Latest Updates: Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship By Investment Program

Last month, the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed by Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia, and St. Kitts and Nevis respectively, was established to implement the minimum investment threshold for Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programs to US$200,000 by June 30th, 2024.


This decision was taken by the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) territories to harmonize and standardize the CBI programs.

To ensure the completion of the parliamentary approval process, the nation of Antigua and Barbuda has requested a 30-day extension period to fulfil the necessary process requirements.



New Amendments Proposed

 

There have been new changes proposed in the program structure to ensure a seamless process of acquiring Antigua and Barbuda’s Citizenship. The changes include new application guidelines and requirements to establish transparency and security in the Citizenship program.

The upcoming reforms promise a more prosperous and assured future for the Caribbean Citizenship programs.



The new developments for Antigua and Barbuda’s program are as follows:

New Guidelines for Application Submission

 

Application submission guidelines state that all documents must be uploaded electronically through the Agents Portal. Physical documents and initial fees must be submitted within 21 days of electronic submission.



Recommended Payment Methods


It is advisable to employ cheque/ bank draft or transfer to allocated accounts held at ACB Caribbean, Antigua, and Commercial Bank International, UAE. While opting for wire transfers, confirmation with clear identification of the principal applicant and application number is mandatory.


Documentary Requirements through the Agents Portal


  1. Forms AB1 to 5 must be entirely completed and duly signed.
  2. Forms of Identification:
    • Copies of passport biographical page
    • Copies of other forms of government-issued picture ID
  3. Copies of Birth Certificate, Valid Visa, Address Verification i.e. utility bill or signed lease agreement.
  4. Source of Income Verification documents: employment letters, pay slips, and online bank statements. For self-employed individuals: share certificates, bank statements, and business-related documents.
  5. Net worth confirmation documents, including bank and investment holdings, real estate documents, and business assets.
  6. Affidavits of consent for minors with a government-issued picture ID of said parent.
  7. Investment agreements for Real estate applications.
  8. Third-party remittance details

Physical Documentation Submission


Following 21 days after electronic upload, certified copies of the following must be provided.

  • ID documents
  • Passport Forms
  • Bank References,
  • Affidavits of Support
  • Passport-size photos
  • Birth and police certificates
  • Supporting documents if needed.
