Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a Grenada passport valid for?
Adult passports issued to applicants aged 18 and over are valid for 10 years. Child passports issued to applicants under 18 are valid for 5 years. All passports issued since 2023 are biometric ePassports.
Can I renew my Grenada passport without travelling to Grenada?
Yes. Applications can be submitted through the nearest Grenadian embassy or high commission in your country of residence, either in person or by tracked express mail. You do not need to travel to Grenada to renew your passport.
What does it cost to renew a Grenada passport?
Through the Embassy of Grenada in the USA, the fee is US$350 for adults and US$250 for children under 18, effective July 2024. Return postage within the USA is US$20 for overnight express mail, or US$60 for international express mail. An additional US$50 applies for expedited processing. Fees at other missions may differ, so confirm directly with the relevant office.
What documents do I need to renew a Grenada passport?
You will need a completed application form, your original birth certificate, your current passport (expired or not), two recent photographs endorsed by a notary public or attorney at law, and your marriage certificate or divorce decree if applicable. A certificate of naturalization is also required for naturalized citizens.
Who can act as a recommender on a Grenada passport application?
The recommender listed in Section 11 of the application form must be a notary public or attorney at law. They cannot be a relative of the applicant, whether by blood or by marriage. The recommender must also endorse the reverse side of one of the applicant’s photographs, confirming it is a true likeness.
What happens to my old passport when I renew it?
Your current passport, whether expired or not, must be surrendered with your renewal application. The old passport is cancelled when the new one is issued. If you have valid visas in your old passport, check with the relevant embassies or immigration authorities to see whether those visas remain usable in a cancelled passport alongside your new one.
