Who Needs to Renew?

Adults and children with expiring passports
Passports that have expired, or are close to expiry, should be renewed in good time to avoid disruption to travel or compliance needs. 
Lost, stolen, or damaged passports
A new application is required if the passport is lost, stolen, or damaged. A police report must be obtained and presented before this type of application can be made.  
Changes in personal details
A new application is also needed if personal details have changed, such as a name change following marriage, divorce, or a court order. 
Cancelling the passport of a deceased relative  
The Passport Office recommends that a family member or executor submit a deceased person's passport for cancellation, along with a certified copy of the death certificate and a written request. Confirm the cancellation and return procedure directly with the Passport Office.

Processing Time 2026

Standard Processing  
Approximately three weeks from the date the application is submitted, according to the Passport Office in Antigua.  
Processing Through an Overseas Mission  
Processing times can run longer when an application is submitted through an overseas mission rather than directly in Antigua.  
Emergency Processing  
Three to five business days, available at an additional cost.  
Lost or Stolen Passport Replacement  
Replacement applications following a loss or theft involve an investigation by the Immigration Department, which takes approximately three months. Once the Passport Office receives the completed investigation report, the passport itself is then ready in approximately three weeks.

Step-by-Step Antigua and Barbuda Passport Renewal Process

Check Your Passport's Expiry Date

Review your current passport and plan to apply well ahead of its expiry date, since the application must be completed in person.

Obtain and Complete the Application Form

Get the application form online or at the Passport Office, then complete it and have it taken to a certified official.

Gather Required Documents

Collect your proof of citizenship, current or expired passport, and recent photographs, along with any additional documents needed for your specific case.

 Submit Your Application

Submit your completed application. Local residents must apply in person at the Passport Office in St. John's, while overseas citizens and CBI applicants can generally submit their applications remotely through an embassy, consulate, authorized representative, or licensed agent.

Await Processing

Standard applications take approximately three weeks. Emergency processing is available for an additional fee, in three to five business days.

 Collect Your New Passport

Once your application has been processed, your new passport will be ready for collection from the Passport Office.
