Adult passports issued to citizens over the age of sixteen are valid for ten years. Minor passports issued to citizens under sixteen are valid for five years.

Standard processing takes approximately three weeks. Emergency processing is also available, in three to five business days, at an additional cost.

Most applicants do not need to visit the Passport Office in person. Overseas citizens and Citizenship by Investment (CBI) applicants can generally renew their passports remotely or through an Antigua and Barbuda embassy, consulate, or authorized agent. However, local residents and certain special cases, such as lost passports, may require an in-person visit.

This requirement is common for citizens who obtained citizenship through investment. If you hold citizenship through the investment program, confirm directly with the Citizenship by Investment Unit whether this or any other additional condition applies to your specific renewal.

You will need to obtain a police report and submit it along with a completed application form, your birth or citizenship certificate, proof of any name change, and two photographs. According to official guidance, the case is reviewed by the Immigration Department, with an investigation that takes approximately three months. Once that completed investigation report reaches the Passport Office, the replacement passport is generally ready in around three weeks.

It is recommended to submit the passport to the Passport Office for cancellation, along with a certified copy of the death certificate and a written request. Confirm the cancellation and return procedure directly with the Passport Office.
