Vanuatu Citizenship by Investment – FAQs
How long does the Vanuatu citizenship process actually take?
3 months for most applications, faster than any other citizenship by investment program in the world. The timeline runs from submission to passport delivery. Pre-approval typically comes within two weeks. Payment follows, then biometrics, then the oath and passport. Well-prepared applications move quickly through each stage.
Can I apply for Vanuatu citizenship completely remotely?
Almost the entire process is handled remotely through your authorized agent, including application preparation, document submission, and approval. The only in-person step is biometric collection, where fingerprints and a photograph must be provided at an approved center in Vanuatu, Dubai, Hong Kong, or Nouméa. In certain cases, biometric collection may also be arranged in the applicant’s country of residence through an authorized consul.
What does Vanuatu citizenship cost in total?
The DSP contribution starts at USD 130,000 for a single applicant. A married couple is USD 150,000. A family of four is USD 180,000. On top of that, add a USD 5,500 due diligence fee, biometric submission fees from USD 1,000, and agent fees. UNO Capital provides a full cost breakdown before anything is committed.
Does a Vanuatu passport allow entry to the EU or UK without a visa?
No longer. The EU permanently ended Vanuatu’s Schengen visa exemption in December 2024. UK visa-free access has also been removed. The passport remains strong across Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America, and works well as a secondary passport alongside a stronger primary travel document.
How does the CIIP route differ from the DSP?
The DSP is a straightforward non-refundable donation. The CIIP involves a larger upfront amount, USD 170,500, but USD 50,000 of that is placed into an approved investment fund and returned after four years, bringing the effective net cost down to around USD 115,000–120,000 for a family of four. The CIIP suits applicants who want a lower total cost and are comfortable with a four-year wait for the partial refund.
Is it easy to get Vanuatu citizenship through investment?
Yes. It is one of the more straightforward programs available. The due diligence process is thorough but efficient. Applications that come in with clean documentation and a clear source of funds rarely face complications. Working with an experienced authorized agent removes most of the procedural friction.
What documents will I need?
Passport copies, birth and marriage certificates, police clearance from every country you’ve lived in for more than six months in the last five years, bank statements, proof of source of funds showing a minimum balance of USD 250,000, and biometric photos. A health certificate may also be required, depending on your profile. UNO Capital sends a full personalized checklist at the start of the process.
Can I include my parents in the application?
Yes. Parents aged 50 and above who are financially dependent on the main applicant can be included. This is one of the more inclusive dependent policies in the CBI market. Family members can also be added after approval for an additional fee, with no deadline for doing so.
