Nevis has issued a pre-enactment notice announcing proposed changes to the Substantial Investment Regulations 2024. <br \/><br \/>The update focuses on redefining who can qualify as a dependent. By widening the scope for families, the CIU seeks to keep the program attractive and in step with regional benchmarks, while continuing to uphold the integrity and strong reputation of the nation\u2019s CBI framework.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f4458fe elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f4458fe\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Current Dependent Rules<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e840446 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e840446\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>At present, the law defines dependents as:<br \/><br \/><\/p><ul><li>Children under 18 years of age.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>Children between 18 and 25, but only if they are in full-time education and fully supported by the main applicant.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>Adult children over 18 who are physically or mentally challenged.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>Parents of the main applicant or spouse, aged 55 and above, who live with and are fully supported by the main applicant.<\/li><\/ul><p>These categories have guided the inclusion of dependents for years. The proposed revision significantly expands the scope for adult children.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d2afed7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d2afed7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Key Proposed Changes<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2c02d43 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2c02d43\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">1. Age Limit Extended to 30<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0792364 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0792364\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe maximum age for dependent children will increase from 25 to 30, provided the application is submitted before the dependent\u2019s 30th birthday. This change opens the door for families with adult children in their late 20s to apply together under one file.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-827a986 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"827a986\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">2. Student Requirement Removed<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e7ba6cd elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e7ba6cd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPreviously, adult dependents aged 18\u201325 had to be enrolled in full-time education. The new proposal removes this restriction. Instead, adult children simply need to prove they are substantially supported by the main applicant.\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-61596f1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"61596f1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">3. Financial Dependence Proof<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4191efb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4191efb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>To qualify, adult dependents must demonstrate substantial financial dependence. Acceptable evidence includes:<br \/><br \/><\/p><ul><li>Bank statements showing regular transfers.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>Proof of expenses covered by the main applicant (rent, insurance, tuition, etc.).<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>Confirmation that the dependent resides in the same household as the main applicant.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>Evidence that the parent covers the dependent\u2019s housing costs, such as rent or mortgage payments.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>A sworn affidavit confirming support.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7680708 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"7680708\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">4.
